Do you know any more drinking games involving Pool?

April 13th, 2010

I learned a good one last weekend.. It is fun. You take turns shooting random balls, only just before you shoot, you have to call out another player’s name, if you sink it, they have to take a drink, if you miss it, you have to take a drink. If you scratch you have to take two drinks. Sink the last ball, and they have to take two. We got so plastered.

Shooting a 15-ball rack, but, has to be in rotation. Every ball the shooter makes the other players have to take a drink. When he misses then he takes a drink. After the last ball is dropped the players add up the totals from the balls they made. All players with a lower total than the winner has to slam a shot, respective of what they were drinking throughout the game. And if you keep track of your score on your computer Drive Backup Software could help.
As you can imagine, with 15 balls being shot in rotation there is going to be a lot of drinking going on.
Again you can set penalties for scratches, fouls, etc.
And, set enough "tip" money aside for the waitress. Ordering shots will keep her busy.

Actually I have played "pill pool" as a drinking game. You play it the same as if gambling only you drink instead. For example if you have 5 people, everyone takes 2 pills (pills are numbered 1-15, and can be found in most billiard stores, you can flip for the kelly bottle too with them, it’s traditional or you can just dump them into a bag). Let say for example that I drew #1 and 4, you shoot second and drew 2 and 8, I go first, I drop the 1. I show the number and everyone else drinks (gambling everyone pays you whatever the bet is, we used to play $1), on my second shot, I drop the 2, your ball, you show the pill with the 2 on it, and since it’s yours, you drink alone (gambing you’d pay me the buck since I dropped your ball), I miss my 3rd shot, you get up, you make the 3, your ball, everyone else drinks, and you keep going. Keep in mind this is a rotation game so the lowest ball on the table has to be hit first, also don’t forget to rack the 1 at the top and 2 & 3 on the lower corners.

Another thing I’ve done, again, a variation on gambling, is playing 3 ball. 3 balls get racked, you keep shooting till you clear the table, counting the strokes, (if you scratch +1, like taking a drop in golf) now gambling, lowest score wins the round, drinking, highest score drinks, or change it as you wish.

if you’re playing at home, so that you’re not getting too drunk too fast, and no one runs the risk of alcohol poisoning, I’d recommend a small cup of beer, over a shot, it’s still fun and you still get drunk just not so fast.

    Have fun and good luck
